Quick Start Guide: Using the Images Panel
The Images Panel appears at the bottom of the Image-Pro user interface. It displays thumbnails of the images that you have opened in the application workspace.
The Images Panel can be shown or hidden using the Images Panel tool in the Workspace group on the Image tab.
Image Information
Hover the mouse over a thumbnail in the Images Panel to reveal a tooltip containing basic image information.
Zoom and Pan Controls
The zoom and pan controls allow you to resize the image or a portion of the image.
When the active image is zoomed and doesn’t fit in the viewer, the viewing area is shown on the Images Panel thumbnail as a semitransparent orange overlay.

Click and drag the center of the viewing area on the
thumbnail to control pan and scroll of the image.
Locking Images
Image-Pro enables you to “lock” two images together so that they zoom, pan, and scroll in tandem. To use this feature:
Open a pair of images in Image-Pro.
Hold down the <Shift> key while clicking on the images in the Images Panel.
Right click on the images in the Images Panel.
You will see a pop-out menu.
Choose Lock Selected Windows.
The selected images are now locked together.
The pop-out menu will change to Unlock.
Choose
the appropriate Lock Options:
- Pan Scroll – synchronized image pan and scroll positions
- Zoom – synchronized magnification of images
- Active Frame – synchronizes active frame index on all locked images
- Auto Arrange
– when this option is on the locked images will be arranged on the in
the application workspace to be visible. For example if you lock 4 images,
they will be arranged in 2 rows and 2 columns. The option arranges only
images to be locked. If the workspace contains more images, other images
will be placed in the last pane below the last locked window.
Activating and Closing
Click on a thumbnail in the Images Panel to activate the corresponding window.
If the thumbnail represent a surface plot or 3D view (or other viewer) clicking will also update the thumbnail.
To close the image, click the Close
menu item from the context menu,
or click the X button:
To remove an image from the Images Panel, select that image and click the <Ctrl> or <Shift> keys. More than one image can be removed at the same time using this method.
